Chinese Calendar 2010 Year of the Tiger
69The Chinese calendar, also referred to as the Hsia Calendar or Farmers’ Calendar, is an extremely accurate calendar system. The calendar runs on a 60 year cycle. It is also the basis of the famous “The Four Pillars of Destiny” fortune telling system. All information about time; year, month, day, and hour are represented in the five basic elements; metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. These elements are believed to be the basic components of the entire universe. The relationship between these elements controls everyone’s future.
Year of the Tiger 2010
According to most predictions I have researched for this year, it will be not be a dull year. The words used most commonly were drama, intensity, change and travel. There are good chances that of far reaching new inventions and incredible technological advances will be made. Conversely world conflicts and disasters are usually featured in the Tiger years. 2010 will be a fast moving intense year for everyone.
Year of the Tiger 1950
This year is symbolized by the two elements metal on top of wood. Metal is stronger than wood and is considered to be the destroyer of wood. This predicts the year of 2010 will be a year of International conflict. Metal is considered to be sword and is always associated with military power. Since the calendar runs on a 60 year cycle the last year of the Tiger with metal over wood was in 1950. In this year the world was beginning to compete in the production of atomic bombs. In January 1950 President Harry S. Truman ordered the development of the Hydrogen bomb. In March Russia announced it had created its own Atomic bomb. In June the Korean War broke out and US troops were committed to the defense of South Korea. In November Chinese troops marched into Korea to aid the North Korean troops. By the end of 1950 Boeing aircraft was within 6 weeks of completing the design of the B-52 bomber which became the mainstay of our strategic defense system to defend the United States against atomic war with Russia. All of these events are connected to the destructive power of yang metal.
